What are the minimum requirements for a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)?

Modified on Thu, 7 Aug at 3:54 PM

Although there are no official RED provisions for what a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) should contain, ISCC requires the following information about PPAs to be provided during the audit:

  • Relevant contracting parties, including the legal entities' names and addresses. Please state whether intermediaries are included as contracting parties or the contract is concluded with the intermediary.

  • Exact addresses (location) of the asset(s) supplying renewable electricity; if alternative assets are envisioned, those must be stated. (Please note that guarantees of origin (GoO) are only allowed to be counted under the PPA contract.)

  • Amount of contracted capacity of the installation(s) (in MW) generating renewable electricity and the share of electricity generated

  • Timeframe of the contract

  • In case GoO or other Energy Attributed Certificates are issued, those must be stated in the PPA

  • Technology of the contracted installations generating renewable electricity

  • Start of operation of the contracted installations generating renewable electricity (or anticipated start of operation if the installations generating renewable electricity or not in operation yet)
