Is it possible to account for GHG emissions savings due to carbon capture and storage (eCCS) when the CO2 storage is located outside of the EU Member States?

Modified on Thu, 1 May at 4:27 PM

GHG emissions savings due to carbon capture and storage (CCS) may only be counted under the RED III if the CCS complies with the EU Directive 2009/31/EC. Please note that this directive mandates that the geological storage shall take place within the European Economic Area (EEA), therefore the application of emissions savings due to CCS is geographically limited. This applies for all CCS savings under ISCC EU.
