How does a material's classification as a waste/residue versus a co-product impact the GHG calculation?

Modified on Thu, 1 May at 4:25 PM

The classification of feedstocks as wastes/residues or co-products determines the scope of the GHG calculation. For wastes/residues, the calculation of GHG emissions starts with the transport from the Point of Origin (PoO), where the waste is generated, to the Collecting Point (CP). For co-products, the GHG calculation must encompass the entire supply chain, i.e. for a bio-based product, emissions from cultivation and potential land use change must be included.

For more Information on which materials are eligible for classification as a waste or residue material, please consider the ISCC EU material list.
