How are bidding zones implemented in non-EU countries?

The Q&A Document on the Implementation of the Hydrogen Delegated Act includes, in its Annex, guidance on how to assess equivalent bidding zones in non-EU countries. If you are interested in conducting such an assessment, please contact ISCC for further support. 

Below is a summary of the assessments conducted for selected non-EU countries: 

  • Brazil: National System Operator (ONS) treats its North, Northeast, South and Southeast–Midwest grids as separate subsystems equivalent to 4 bidding zones.

  • India: 13 bidding zones
