Which palm oil mills and refineries need to be individually certified?

Modified on Tue, 7 Apr at 10:02 AM

All refineries supplying waste and residue materials under ISCC need to be individually certified with the scope Point of Origin.

This requirement applies regardless of both:

  • the type of oil being refined (not limited to palm oil)

  • the physical state of the material (both liquid and solid)

Palm oil mills that supply liquid waste and residue streams under ISCC – such as POME, POME oil, EFB oil, or PPF oil - must also be individually certified with the scope Point of Origin.

Palm oil mills that supply only solid waste and residues under ISCC, such as palm kernel shells, may continue to fall under a group certification approach, e.g., by supplying material to a certified Collecting Point and issuing a self-declaration to that Collecting Point.

Please note that individual certification requires annual audits for recertification.
