What is the Sustainability Declaration for Intermediate RFNBOs, when should it be used, and who is responsible for issuing and verifying it?

Modified on Tue, 9 Jun at 7:10 PM

It is used to transfer sustainability, traceability and GHG information for RFNBO products that are not yet final fuels.

Use it when a certified operator supplies an RFNBO intermediate to another certified operator for further processing, e.g. RFNBO hydrogen to methanol, ammonia or synthetic fuel production.

It is not the final Proof of Sustainability if the material will be further processed and chemically changed.

Only a certified economic operator may issue the declaration, and only for sustainable material covered by its valid certificate.

The recipient should verify that:

  • the supplier certificate is valid at dispatch and issuance;

  • the batch data is complete;

  • the sustainability and GHG information is consistent;

  • the declaration is linked to the physical batch.
