What is the reasoning for the 3-day timeframe in the UDB?

Modified on Thu, 1 May at 4:05 PM

The objective of the traceability system is to be close to real-time, as the UDB is a traceability system rather than a reporting system. The 72-hour period applies from the date either the invoice or shipment details become available to the Economic Operator. This provides flexibility, allowing the transaction to be registered after the shipment (for example, once the invoice is generated). Once the transaction is created, the UDB will provide the PoS identifier back to the Economic Operator. The Economic Operator is then able to record the emission details before the end of the 3-month balancing period or before the sale of the received consignment on the UDB.
